I really would like to understand the difference between Car GPS and Trecking GPS. Are they similar?

I mean here from the point of syncing with satellites. I saw some trecking GPS that sync with 12 ( 12 channels). Does that mean that they are more sensitive than Car GPS?

Is it possible to use car GPS for trecking
Or are there GPS that can be used for both applications at the same time, and may be also for sailing, let’s say
If they are identical hardware-wise, does that mean one can use maps files for cars on a trecking GPS, or vice-versa?

I want to find a good GPS tracking system for my car. It has to be lightweight and easily hid. Also something that isn’t extremely expensive.
I’m not looking for a navigational system. I am looking for a device that I can track my car with from home when someone else is driving my car.

I have recently bought a satnav/GPS and found that the speed recorded on the machine differs from my cars speedometer. Which one is more accurate? Is this normal?

I also need to know how to get my cars GPS unit number so I can use the program to track my car.

I recelty purchased the 255W garmin Nuvi, i was told it was on the Garmin site, but turns out theres a fee associated with having this luxury. So i was wandering if anyone has downloaded it for free?
