How can I get my Garmin GPS to speak street names?

I have the Garmin Nuvi 250 that does not speak the street names during the real time travel directions.

For example, it says “Turn Right in 500 feet,” when I would rather it say something like “In 500 feet, turn right on to Elm Street”

Is there any way to patch, update, or even hack this particular model to do this?

Thanks in advance.

No. You have to upgrade to a 350 or 360 (older models), or 205 0r 255 (newer models).

Unfortunately I don’t believe it can be hacked. You need to upgrade. I just bought a 265WT from and it speaks street names and much more. Happy shopping.
